Tataroglu is our most recent international client. After a brief discussion of what look and feel they had in mind we gave them eight unique concepts to choose from. The chosen logo reflects mass, strength and durability – all qualities requested by the company. The icon design of the strong man is a social realist rendition of an ancient Tatar, coming full circle conceptually as Tataroglu means in Turkish – “Son of a Tatar” We were able to wrap up historical reference, and conceptual look in a logo with high fidelity that can be easily embroidered, stamped or letter-pressed.

We love it when clients send us pictures of their logo in action. J.D. from Caribou Contracting in Golden, CO. sent us this picture of the panel van he applied his new logo design to. We used a font for Caribou Contracting that actually had the feel of Caribou antlers when they are in velvet. Attention to detail and great execution is what makes a custom logo design from BusinessLogos.

It’s rare that we get to do a company logo for Aztec liquor, so when we do we tend to have a good time with it. We wanted to rival any historical bottle, and have typography to match a timeless illustration. Here you see the last round of revisions done to our sugar skull originally made by Paul Browning. After the logo is done, we are to move on with labels for the bottles.

We have heard the news and opinions about the new Florida Business logo and of course first we say everyone has a right to their opinion. The most opinion we will offer is our usual deadpan one – it could have been better. We don’t mind the design at all. The color scheme screams sunny Florida, the customized type is attractive and also the angles and lines of the tie succeed in feeling like the type. These factors alone can make a good logo even if the idea behind it is not profound. The weight of the tie could be called into question perhaps. Moreover, we are excited to see the first branding we know of a State’s business environment. We do wish Florida would have come to us for their custom business logo design.

It seems the new University of California has not come off to rave reviews. The logo has been summarily attacked for banality, group-think, and schmoozing to name a few! One early viewer of the logo tweeted; “Whoever signed off on this UC logo should be forced to have it tattooed on their forehead for life.” This highlights the importance of having the design team truly familiarize themselves with the mission and outlook of the establishment they are branding. Also, with an organization this big a fair amount of polling goes into play, or should go into play when developing the logo concept. 2,000 to 5,000 people would have been polled for a design this big at a classic ad agency, so this is a bit surprising…but we have noticed a trend to overlook some of the more traditional aspects of logo development in recent times. Make sure your design team understands your business before starting your logo design.

We must notice that many logo designs these days are being designed around the square, and the app icon square. With boxed in design; edge placement will always play a role as we can see in all of these – the logo design is placed at or near an edge creating a visual draw. This is a formal composition technique as old as painting itself. Lighter blues are a good choice for this business cycle as they are professional and not too saturated as to be overbearing. Simple, clear professionalism is implied with a light blue – a feeling that goes back many decades in design to the feeling of blueprints, non-photo blues and a general corporate look. Our modern blue logo designs here are all seeking something; a unique feel from a lighter more ethereal tone of blue than we have seen from corporations in the past. This blue highlights high technology and efficiency and almost has a “green” or progressive feeling as in the Mercedes “BluTec” brand of clean diesel technology, and Hyundai’s “Blue-Drive” technology. Bring on the blue.
