Mail Chimp revises their logo for readability at a small size.

MailChimp recently had their logo revised. At first glance it is basically the same, but upon closer inspection the logo is changed in many places to enhance readability and for a better overall flow with the letters. The tail of the “p” is a conspicuous example of the efforts to enhance the readability.

This is a great example of subtle type centered changes making the logo more pleasing to the eye, and all importantly; readable across the size spectrum. When a logo is printed at a small size, like on a business card, the ink runs ever so slightly and too tight a space can close during physical reproduction. A good logo design company will take care of these issues from the start, anticipating all the nuances of production.
